I Love Wallpaper

Hi Friends! The leaves are already starting to fall off the trees and it is still August. I think the end of summer is BULLSHIT and we should have summer for a full year and all holidays (except my birthday) every OTHER year. Let’s make this happen people!

So I wrote a little piece for Ehow about vintage/retro wallpaper. You know I love a good wallpaper, who DOESN’T? I remember every wallpaper that was in my parent’s house growing up. I EVEN remember every Laura Ashley floral, those were dark times. I asked my mom about a few SPECTACULAR examples that were up in the 70’s (foiled papers, flocked, flower power daisies) and she BELIEVES there are still in a box somewhere.

Get ready for CRAFT with those everyone. Imagine the possibilities.

So here is the article – go have a look. Your wall will thank you (I mean thank ME)

• best wallpaper you have ever seen? Describe it

• the worst wallpaper as well. Hit me with your best shot.

Adventuring – Tiki Oasis 2014

Hello Friends! I actually left the HOUSE! It’s an amazing feat and you should totally pat me on the back. I am not kidding.

*This post has a ton of photos – I will NOT be mad if you skip to the bottom to see them*

I went on a little adventure to San Diego which is delightful this time a year. I highly recommend it.

The event is Tiki Oasis – a Tiki themed concert, dance party, fashion show, art installment, adult summer camp. Those are my words, not theirs. Please don’t be mad at me if you disagree. My description is crap so I just thought I would SHOW YOU with ALL THE PHOTOS. You are welcome.

I don’t think that I could describe it perfectly or even accurately because this was my very first year. My first impression and the most common answer I gave was that it was OVERWHELMING. There were so many things going on at once so if I was at one end something spectacular going on at the other end of the event.

Go Go dancing babies! NO BIG DEAL!

There were CRAFTS!

There were CRAFTS!

There were book clubs, craft classes, beauty school, live music, burlesque, car show, lectures, DJS and somewhere in the middle my brain just stopped and exploded. Done.

This kid is disappointed in me for missing book club.

I saw a lecture by Rolly Crump – and he gets sweeter and funnier every time I see him speak. He even let me take his photo (I’m sure he think’s I’m a lunatic but I LOVE HIM SO)

Once upon a long ago I worked at a sleepover summer camp on Catalina Island and over and over I couldn’t shake this feeling that I was back there with our campers. We woke up the camp with music at 9:30 AM too!

My FAVORITE part though was spending time with my friends. The ones far away, the ones close to home and all the new ones in-between. Oh, and I got to wear ALL MY MUUMUUS, that was my second favorite.

KIT – See you next summer!

Craft – Let’s Make Envelopes!

Oh Friends. Its mid August! How are you all holding up? I want you to know I heart your faces!

I have another ehow craft feature – because all I do now is test various glues and glitter integrity. They know be by name at my local craft store.

This craft is for the HOARDERS. We can call ourselves sentimental traditionalist with a love of preservation if it makes us feel better.

I save ALL THE THINGS  – and here is a craft for those of you that SAVE all the things too!

Turn your old & FREE calendars into envelopes

A special bonus of this is that I NEVER have envelopes. I am just not that efficient and I am constantly wrapping burned DVDS for photo clients in paper towels. This is SO MUCH better.

And apparently today is the 3 third anniversary of this blog! WOW! It’s not entirely accurate but it IS three years since I registered this site. Does this count? Talk to me again in a year when I wax poetic about what a long and REWARDING journey it has been. Heh.

• Do you have a good DIY craft that also recycles?

• What is a common item (like envelopes) that you find yourself never having enough of?

• What are your thoughts on glitter?
